Transformers 81 and Seeds of Deception PRESENT:

ISSUE 78.5
THE LAST QUEST: ACT 1

Lineart by Seb :icondivljasvinja:

Colors by Giuseppe Pica

Story and lettering by Franco Villa :iconm3gr1ml0ck:

Edits by Juan Pablo Osorio :iconiskander77: and Ibai Canales :iconcanalus:

NOTES

The original idea behind the statue in panel 2 was a nod to Dai Atlas.

The temple room in panel 3 is based on the Matrix Flame room seen in G1 Marvel UK #78.
Seb didn't even need to look for references: he remembered exactly how it looked!

The Last Autobot is not called by this name, here, just as Bludgeon knew him as the Ultimate Warrior.

The "Grail Quest" concept came from Simon Furman himself. In a Transformers Club magazine inteview, he explained that this was his original plan for Cybertron in the Marvel series, had this not been canceled: a planet shrouded in a nuclear winter, Cybertronians forced to wander on it looking for the Last Autobot, new experiences, dwindling resources and so on.

That was a beautiful, somewhat dark short comic. The idea itself is excellent, Cybertron dead from the war and those last few ones looking for a way to restore their home. I love it!
I enjoy the change of style each page, it somehow gives it a very nice flow, and the story keeps me wanting more.

Thank you :)
As you might know, the story is based on the original G1 Marvel comics.
We have an Act 2 already scripted, now we just need to gather some artists (while continuing our own Seeds Of Deception and Lost Seasons Tfs comics).

Ah, really? The old comics really had some great plots.
Oh cool, I'm looking forward to Act 2 then!

Franco, will the act 2 be connected to 78.5 or #79 / #80?

It would be a 78.5 Act 2 story!

great job guys, the only bad thing about IDWs 81 is that its going to ignore G2. WHich is a bad decision if you ask me. If they wanted to ignore continuity and start somewhere I would have preferred they ignored #80 and started with an original #80.

That last issue was 1-2 years of story crammed into one

This is one series I definately WILL be getting. I do love the G2 series and am disapointed that this series will contradict the G2 story, but firstly, pretty much everything by Simon Furman is always awesome and secondly, the original Marval G1 series is way better than IDW's and Dreamwave's G1 series (I mean the story not the art) and I was absolutely gutted when they stoppped it the first time around.
